What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the stunning beauty of Couleuvre Waterfall and the immersive rainforest hike. The dramatic black sand beach at Anse Couleuvre is also a major draw. While the trail is generally manageable, the limited parking and potential for crowds, especially on weekends, are noted drawbacks.
"The hiking trail to the Cascade de la Rivière Couleuvre in Martinique is a really enjoyable walk. The path is well-marked and takes you through beautiful, wild scenery. At times, you have to cross the river, which adds a bit of adventure, but it’s not difficult to manage. I found the trail to be fairly easy – you don’t need to be super fit to do it, though proper water-friendly shoes are a good idea. I went on a weekday around 9 a.m., and there weren’t many people, which made the place feel peaceful and almost secluded. The waterfall itself is stunning – definitely worth the visit!"

"Great hike through rainforest, arriving at a beautiful tall waterfall. Trail crosses the river several times and is about 45 minutes each way. Parking lot smaller so best to arrive early. After this hike you can do a short hike down to the beach. Beautiful hike"

"Very nice xperience. It's a must. You have to try it, words are useless. The hiking till the waterfall totally worth it. Just bring closed shoes and water. The path is through the forest, so not at direct sun."

📸 📸 Photography Tips
Early morning or late afternoon can offer softer light, but the jungle canopy creates a diffused light throughout the day. Be prepared for mist from the waterfall, which can add a dramatic effect to your photos.
A wide-angle lens is great for capturing the scale of the waterfall and the surrounding jungle. A sturdy tripod can help with longer exposures in the lower light conditions. Protect your gear from moisture.
The base of the waterfall offers a dramatic perspective, but be mindful of slippery rocks. The trail itself provides opportunities to capture the lush rainforest environment.
Use a faster shutter speed to freeze the water droplets, or a slower shutter speed with a tripod to create a silky smooth water effect. Experiment with both to see what you prefer.
Exercise extreme caution when taking photos near the waterfall, as the rocks are slippery and the terrain can be treacherous. Never put yourself in a dangerous situation for a photo.
