What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Punta Esmeralda is a highly-rated local gem, praised for its unique cenote meeting the sea and peaceful, family-friendly atmosphere. Visitors appreciate the free entry and amenities like restrooms and showers, though some note occasional sargassum on the main beach and the need to bring all provisions.
"I had the sweetest most unexpected adventure deciding to go here. It’s a hike of about 50 min walk from the center (I broke it up in half to have breakfast) but 🥹 was worth it! Not busy, but not quiet. Lots of locals. Lots of little babes swimming and playing in the mini cenote. Found a perfect spot under a palm tree and sunned and shaded and slept and swam. It was perfect. Free entrance if on foot. You can bring your own food just no glass bottles. Showers and restroom on site."

"Beautiful spot, beach in one side and cenote water on the other side. Such a gem. There was some garbage around the sides, not much on the sand thou. Very local spot with local people, music and atmosphere"

"Relaxing? Beyond. A beautiful beach to visit that is peaceful and not full of all the tourists. It's worth the drive and a great place to spend the day. Bring your own food and water as there is no water or food in the area. Beach is clean and pleasantly quiet with the natural sounds of the ocean waves."
