What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Samalayuca Dunes offers a breathtaking natural spectacle with its vast sand dunes, perfect for adventure activities like sandboarding and 4x4ing. Visitors praise the unique desert tranquility and photographic potential. However, the challenging road conditions and lack of on-site amenities require thorough preparation.
"Ok, the Dunes are definite 5 star deal but the roads are not maintained so we ended up stuck in the sand just past the parking lot and just around the corner from the entrance. If you are down to hike or take a tour that is your best bet. However they are beautiful and totally worth the the small entrance fee."

"This place is amazing. Sadly this is often overlooked by visitors coming to Ciudad Juarez. The sensation is unique with a very clean sand. The wind will be the only noise you will hear which is incredible for meditation. The entrance tends to be slightly dirty with beer cans some times as the entrance is often used as a pique nique spot. Dont forget to walk barefoot to get this deseet walkabout feelibg :) The place is perfect for sandboarding or atv enjoyment but you wont find rental at the entrance. You will need to bring your equipment or rent some in Juarez"

"Filming location for the original Dune, where Paul summons Shai Hulud with the thumper, then they all run to ride the worm."
