What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Ponta Milibangalala Beach is lauded for its breathtaking, unspoiled beauty and the unique opportunity to combine beach relaxation with wildlife safaris. Visitors are captivated by the stunning landscapes and the tranquility of the location. However, the challenging 4x4-only access and occasional issues with beach cleanliness are frequently mentioned drawbacks.
"We had a delightful day trip to Montebelo Milibangalala, enjoying lunch and some beach time with friends. Our group was quite large, and the staff were absolutely fantastic! Given that we were in seafood territory 😂, I couldn't resist the tiger prawns, which were a true foodie's delight. It was .......singing all the way🤣👌🏾!
The beach and landscape were breathtaking—stunning doesn't even begin to describe it, and in my opinion, it surpasses Big Sur, having visited both!
Moving on to the game reserve, the wildlife was abundant. "Pumbaa" was well represented, along with a herd of elephants and various types of gazelle. Despite it being late morning, I was quite impressed with the turnout.
Hoping "Mufasa" and "Zazu" grace us with their presence next time!
Overall, I was thoroughly impressed and completely sold on the experience. I'm looking forward to staying for a couple of days soon."

"We had a lovely time in Milibangalala, however I would strongly advise a 4x4 or a transfer. The road is impossible to do with a normal SUV, you will get stuck in the sand like we did and some locals had to help us out. It was a very stressful trip there. But the resort is wonderful if you are looking for some peace and tranquility😊"

"Fantastic coastal location with nice rooms and stunning views. However, there are a few things to note before booking. The drive to the resort requires a very expensive 4x4 vehicle, with no alternative transportation options and minimal assistance from the hotel. The food is mediocre at best, and the service lacks friendliness. During checkout, it felt like we were an inconvenience. None of the basic courtesies you expect from a 5-star hotel were offered, and we weren’t even asked about our stay despite spending four nights there. The restaurant is drab and depressing in the evenings, and the menu prices didn’t match—smaller beers were charged at the same price. When we inquired about this, we received a shrug of the shoulders. Finally, while the hotel makes an effort to clean the beach every morning, the tide brings in an insane amount of rubbish."

👨👩👧 Families with Kids
However, families should be prepared for the challenging 4x4 access, which might require careful planning for younger children. While resorts offer dining, packing kid-friendly snacks and drinks is always a good idea. The remoteness means limited entertainment options beyond nature, so focus on the natural wonders for a memorable family trip.

Accommodation options are limited and can be pricey, with the Montebelo Milibangalala Resort being a prominent choice. For budget-conscious visitors, packing your own food and drinks is highly recommended, as resort dining can add up. Consider this destination for a splurge or if you're part of a group that can share the 4x4 costs.
💖 Couples & Romantic Getaways
The Montebelo Milibangalala Resort offers comfortable rooms, some with private balconies, ideal for a romantic escape. While the drive can be challenging, the reward is an intimate experience in a breathtaking setting. Indulge in fresh seafood dinners and enjoy the peace and quiet together.

Navigating the Sandy Tracks: The 4x4 Imperative
The road conditions are a significant deterrent for some, but for those with the right vehicle, it's part of the adventure. The remoteness is precisely what preserves the beach's pristine and tranquil atmosphere. Embrace the challenge, and you'll be rewarded with a secluded paradise.
Tips for 4x4 Travel
* Check tire pressure: Lowering tire pressure can improve traction on sand.
* Engage 4WD: Always use 4WD on sandy tracks.
* Maintain momentum: Avoid stopping unnecessarily on soft sand.
* Carry recovery gear: Shovel, traction boards, and a tow rope can be lifesavers.
* Inform someone: Let someone know your travel plans and expected arrival time.

However, dining experiences can be varied. While some guests praise the food and the half-board option, others find the offerings to be mediocre and the restaurant atmosphere lacking. For those seeking a more authentic local culinary experience beyond the resort, options are scarce due to the beach's remote location.
Dining Tips for Milibangalala
