Reviews Summary

Island Bay Reserve is a beloved local gem, praised for its community feel, excellent facilities like the wharf and playground, and scenic harbor views. Visitors appreciate the trust within the community and the convenience for boating and fishing. Some note that parking can be limited during peak times.

"This is a local icon. Whether you’re fishing, swimming, or popping a manu, if you’re a local you have spent time at this wharf. There are also two boat ramps - one leading to the beach, and one into the water, however the latter is really more for kayaks. There’s also a great pirate ship themed playground and picnic area."

Ed Bell

"Went down to watch the Aurora Australis as it hit Auckland.

It was dark - parking was plentiful, although because of the popularity of the light show soon filled up - I’m sure it wouldn’t have normally at 8pm on a chilly Saturday night in May!

Well worth the visit and a photo worth visiting for."

Gavin Panter

"After fishing here at noon, I left the box containing the fishing gear on the driveway. Five hours later, I returned here and found that everything was still there and well placed aside. Thank you for being a kind-hearted dear stranger."
