"Nice Reserve and Lookout area over the Bays. The last 1 km of the road is unsealed and there is a small area at the top where you can park your car. The lookout is like 2 mins from where you park. It's worth a visit to take some beautiful pictures and views out to sea"

"A beautiful vista point that gives amazing views of the surrounding mountains, beaches, islands, and forests. The road that leads to this point open from 7:30 AM to 7:30 PM. The road till the top is gravel for 800 meter till the top parking lot, however the gravel is settled and very easy to drive even a small car up there. Parking is free, as it’s an unpaved circular park. At the top there are two paths, both lead to the same spot. One is paved while the other is gravel. If you take the right one, it has a smaller deck with a view of the cooks beach. If you continue the path you arrive at the main deck with amazing views and fair bit of information. It’s super calm here and you can hear the sound of sea and the birds. There are restrooms located next to the parking area. It’s a single restroom with a WC and sanitizer dispenser and no wash basin. There is also a trail leading to the cooks beach and lonely bay. The climb to the viewing deck is slightly steep but easily manageable. A nice drive up to amazing views so highly recommended."

"Beautiful day to look right down the bay.
We parked right at the top of the gravel drive and literally walked less than a minute to the first platform.
The top is only another 30 seconds from there.
This would be considered wheelchair friendly, it's just a bit of a steep concrete path that's all... so you'll need to flex your muscles 🙂
Dog friendly.
The gravel drive gets a bit congested with beach goers parking their cars on the side from midday onwards.
View is stunning."

Navigating the Gravel Road
Parking is available at the top of the gravel drive, and it's free of charge. However, during peak times, especially midday on sunny days, the gravel area can become congested with vehicles from beachgoers. Arriving earlier in the morning or later in the afternoon can help you secure a spot more easily and enjoy a less crowded experience.
The Short but Rewarding Walk
The climb to the main deck is described as slightly steep but manageable for most visitors. One reviewer noted it's 'wheelchair friendly, it's just a bit of a steep concrete path that's all — so you'll need to flex your muscles'. This indicates that while accessible, some physical effort may be required. The effort is well worth it for the breathtaking panoramic views that await at the top.
Capturing the Coromandel Coastline
For those seeking a slightly different perspective, a smaller deck accessible via the right-hand path offers a more focused view directly down onto Cooks Beach. This is ideal for framing shots of the beach itself or the boats that might be anchored there. The best light for photography is during the 'golden hours' – early morning and late afternoon – when the sun casts a warm glow over the water and landscape, creating dramatic shadows and vibrant colors.
