THE STUNNING CASCADES OF HUMBOLDT FALLS . . This was a little less than a year earlier when I visited Fiordland along with a close friend who was visiting. There was a bit of rain 🌧, not very heavy. The track 👣 was a bit mushy but doable. The falls were a visual treat. The video doesn't do justice, but imagine, with eyes closed, what a sight this was! . . #southislandnz #purenewzealand #dosomethin...

Reviews Summary

Visitors find Humboldt Falls to be an impressive, though somewhat distant, waterfall. While the main viewpoint is easily accessible via a short uphill walk, many recommend venturing further up the river for a more immersive experience, even if it involves crossing cold water. The smooth, unpaved access road is a plus for drivers.

"The road to get here is unpaved but very very smooth. Literally any car can pass and I think I went faster on this road than the normal Milford road due to no traffic. Google maps will significantly overestimate how long it will take you.

Anyway, the walk to the waterfall is up hill but short. Not sure the payoff is worth it. You can only see the waterfall from across the valley. But if you need to burn some time I like we did, then go ahead and stop."

"Humboldt Falls resides in Fiordland National Park near Te Anau in the Fiordland region of South Island, New Zealand.

It is one of the highest waterfalls in New Zealand. This giant 275 metre waterfall is impressive and the track is 1.2 km in distance and takes around 30 mins return walk.

They are the third tallest falls in New Zealand, falling 275 metres in three drops. The largest of the three drops is 134 metres high."

W R Edwards

"A bit of a hike to get to the view of waterfall. After returning from the hike we took a detour to the boat ramp. Such a beautiful place. Hidden gem"
