Stunning and worth the detour."

"Fantastic spot to take in the views. Nice road to drive up to the lookout. Great spot for a family picnic. Not much shade if the weather is too hot, otherwise well worth the drive up, or walk up. There is a footpath available."

Olsen Ia

"Regular start point for an easy to medium intensity hike that can be done as a 5-6 hour circuit through three reserves or a simple there and back trek to the point itself. Pretty well maintained track with good signage and historical insight about the Pā site along the way. The path is lush with some of the most impressive stands of native coastal forest in the country with glimpses down the hill to Whakatāne township, with Putauaki and even Mt Tarawera on the horizon. The point itself offers vistas out to the East Cape, Whakaari/White Island and Moutohorā/Whale Island."
