What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Wairarapa Farmers' Market at Solway offers a mixed experience. While some visitors find it vibrant with friendly vendors and great bargains like the Lions Club Bookshop, others have noted a decline in stall variety and energy. The market's atmosphere and offerings can be inconsistent, with some key stalls occasionally missing.
"It’s been a few weeks since I’ve been to this market and I must say how disappointed I was. Last time I visited it was vibrant and colourful, now it is drab, dreary and colourless. I noticed that a few really good stalls were missing. The fruit and vegetable stall was not there, one of the main reasons you go to a market to get fresh fruit and veg. The ‘Our Place’ cafe was not there, they had the best coffee at the market. Also missing is Ruth’s home made jams and chutneys, which seems to be replaced by some commercial style products similar to what you get in supermarkets, disappointing to say the least. I had purchased a handbag from ‘Melanie-Claire bags’ for my wife some time ago and now a friend wants one but that stall is also missing. I could go on but I won’t. If this is what the Farmers Market has become I won’t be interest in coming back. Nothing to see here folks."

"Such a cool market. Has a little bit of everything here for shoppers. Friendly stall holders happy to have a chat.
The Lions Club Bookshop is a total treasure trove. My son was visiting from Auckland and brought 5 books for $10 to add to his collection. Such a bargain! We will be back to support our local community and craft persons. 🌟😊"

"A lovely market in a beautiful setting but sadly absolutely ruined by a greasy fish and chip vendor inside the hall.. the intense smell of cooking oil and grease permeated everything including our clothes and the other vendors goods! We won’t be back. I seriously recommend placing the fried food vendor outside."
