Just had a night away at Waikanae estuary freedom camp 🙌! Only one night of camping allowed here each month, but it was just what we needed 🤗. Preceded by a $3.50 hot soak and sauna at the Coastal acquatic center, I’d beg to say that we had an effective 24hr break! 🥰 #freedomcampingnz #kapiticoast #conservation #weekendaway #beachvibes #nomadsaloud

I found one of the best birding spots in New Zealand I think 🦆✨ The Waikanae Estuary Scientific Reserve is home to 60 different species of birds and has had extensive replanting to support them. Mad peaceful vibes at this place ya’ll and I loved seeing the work to restore the environment 💛

Poor dotterel! Why can’t people just keep their dog on a leash?! NZ needs to better help the bird life, used to be so many species everywhere! Tragic to see how few birds there are in the mainland nowadays 😭
