Embrace the Wilderness: Pack Smart

Femundsmarka is vast, unspoiled wilderness. Expect wet conditions and biting insects, especially in summer. Waterproof gear and effective mosquito repellent are non-negotiable for a comfortable experience. Plan for self-sufficiency as amenities are scarce. Reddit

Timing is Key for Solitude

While beautiful year-round, summer offers the best conditions for canoeing and hiking. However, this is also peak season for mosquitoes and crowds. Consider shoulder seasons for a more tranquil experience, but be prepared for colder weather and potential snow. TikTok

Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about Femundsmarka's vast, unspoiled wilderness, perfect for canoeing, fishing, and hiking. The opportunity to see wildlife like reindeer is a major draw. However, be prepared for challenging conditions, particularly the prevalence of mosquitoes in summer and the need for waterproof gear.

"An amazing place, nice trails. Such an experience. It was very wet the we were there. So it's good to have a pair of waterproof shoes. Also don't forget musquitospray, otherwise you'll be eaten alive 😅"

Kasper Deraeve

"I did not visit it but was flying over it. It’s looked amazing and wish I could be there in person it look s vast and the mountains ⛰️ look gigantic mesmerising view"

Tanny Gill

"At Femundsmarka, Less than a days traveling off the Norwegian capital a region can be found, which has an abundance of nature to offer. Here - in the area of Engerdal - one of the big lakes of the country is situated. By the banks of Femund lake, and around in the woods of Gutulia and wild forests as well as in Femundsmarkas bare land up the timberline moose, lux and volverine can be met, with a good bit of luck even the hidden brown bear. Reindeer will cross your path and - along the many creeks, streams, and rivers - one might discover here and there a beaver. Femundsmarka National Park is one of the largest continuous, unspoilt wilderness regions in Southern Scandinavia. A great area for canoeing and fishing. The Norwegian Trekking Association has selected it as one of the three best hiking areas in Norway."
