Reviews Summary

Visitors are captivated by Finnmarksvidda's immense, unspoiled wilderness and profound sense of solitude. The opportunity to witness reindeer herds and experience unique Arctic activities like dog sledding and Northern Lights viewing are major highlights. However, the unpredictable and harsh weather, along with the remoteness, requires thorough preparation and can be challenging for some.

"If you find yourself on the Finnmarksvidda plateau near Karasjok in late April, it is easy to believe that you have reached the end of the world. The only thing that breaks the silence out here is a slight, northerly breeze, and a rumble underfoot as several hundred reindeer thunder down the mountainside. At a spot ninety kilometres above the northern horizon lies the herd's summer grazing area and the ultimate destination of this journey, which is where the animals calve and fatten up for colder weather and their instinct to migrate again guide them southward."

SUHAS Dubey

"We drove through this plateau on an excursion from our cruise ship in Alta. This an incredibly beautiful ans unspoiled landscape; and we saw our first reindeer."

The vast, open landscapes, dramatic skies (especially during polar twilight and for Northern Lights), reindeer herds, and the unique light conditions offer incredible photographic potential. Instagram

A wide-angle lens for landscapes, a telephoto lens for wildlife, a sturdy tripod, and extra batteries (cold drains them quickly) are recommended. A polarizing filter can enhance sky colors. :camerawithflash:

Golden hours (early morning and late evening) offer beautiful light. During winter, the polar twilight provides soft, ethereal light for extended periods. Instagram

Keep your camera warm by storing it inside your jacket when not in use. Use extra batteries and allow your gear to acclimatize slowly when moving between extreme temperatures to prevent condensation. :iphone:
