What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Kjerringøy Trading Post is praised for its beautiful, tranquil setting and well-preserved historical buildings, offering a charming glimpse into coastal trading life. Visitors highly recommend the scenic ferry journey and the insightful guided tours, which bring the history to life. However, some note that English language support could be improved, with limited subtitles for videos and potential language barriers on tours.
"NIce drive up from Bodo. The roads are quite narrow. There is a free ferry to take on the way. The trading village opens quite late in the morning. We bought the basic ticket which gave us access to some outside building and it was very interesting. We had coffee and cake in the cafe.
While waiting for the exhibit to open we went to the nearby general store. Very well stocked and friendly service. There is a walking track along the sea shore.
A lovely day out ."

"I had been looking forward to visiting this place for a long time. I finally got there in the summer 2025. I watched the video in English and later I booked a guided tour. It is really nice to walk by the different buildings and take pictures BUT I highly recommend you booking a guided tour. My guide, a lovely young man called Viggo was my guide. I was the only person in the group so it was a pleasure to listen to Viggo telling me about that amazing place. I learnt a lot of things and it was wonderful. Viggo loves that place and it is clear when you hear him talking about it and showing you so many details and facts about that trading post. I remember Kjerringøy as a really beautiful experience."

"Very nice museum, but not very foreigner-friendly. It would be great to have subtitles in English for the video they show and to have the chance to get in the main house. Now you can only get in with a guided tour and there are none in English.
Getting there on the public transport is not very convenient, but you get to experience the amazing views from the ferry."
