What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Ryten for its breathtaking summit views of Kvalvika Beach, often calling it a highlight of their Lofoten trip. The 'hanging rock' viewpoint is a unique draw. However, some find the hike challenging due to steep, muddy sections, and trail closures to the beach can be a disappointment.
"An easy (advanced) to moderate (beginner) hike to a beautiful view of Kvalvika Beach! The ascent takes 1 hour, after which you can descend 862 Sherpa steps to the beach. We parked at a nearby farm for 150NOK (camper), which is where the hike starts and where drinking water and a toilet are available.
Highly recommended! As always in bad weather, good footwear and some skill are required."

"The views from the top were amazing and really worth it. I especially recommend the viewpoint with the rock that looks like it’s hanging above a deep gorge.
Unfortunately, the trail to Kvalvika Beach was closed when we visited, so many people stayed up at the top – it was a bit crowded. Still, it was a great experience!"
Zuzana Vavrova
"Went after heavy rain for 2 days (and also raining heaves we descended), still very doable with poles and good shoes, but took a longer time (4 hours total). Went from Innesand parking which is direct route unlike Kvalvika route. Was the best hike in Lofoten for us among 7 hikes."
