Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the beautiful natural pools and gentle waterfalls at Chorro Las Mozas, calling it a refreshing and relaxing spot. The short, scenic trek alongside the stream is a highlight, though caution is advised during wet conditions. While the waterfall itself is modest, the overall experience of swimming and picnicking in a natural setting is highly praised.

"Incredibly beautiful natural pools and waterfalls. We came during dry season, there is still plenty of water but walking down the stream was very safe. We went past the “peligrosa” sign (danger) and got to a really beautiful cluster of pools. The initial part of the path there is quite steep and I imagine this is very dangerous if it’s slippery or more water but during the time we went it was fine - be cautious if going this way."

"This place offers a little adventure for people of all ages. The trek from the parking lot to the waterfall felt about ten to thirteen minutes. Although it is a straight walk you will have to deal with changes in the terrain. You will experience a mix of flat rock, jagged rocks, narrow dirt walkways and also boulders. A little risky at times but nothing dangerous. The entire way you will be walking alongside the stream. This is a perfectly sized adventure for someone wanting to hike a little but not sweat during the process.

The entrance will cost a couple of dollars. The parking lot is small and will fill up quickly. The road into it is narrow but with enough space to park along the side. Right along the parking lot are a few huts with tables and chairs were families gather and bring their barbecues. Walk downstream from there to get to the waterfall. The waterfall itself is very small by any standard but you can sit in certain parts and enjoy the flow of the water. It empties into a large opening where visitors sit and take a swim in the shallow water. This is the area where most visitors stop to enjoy the place before returning. It is not advisable to trek further down the river.

Myths and legends add to the mystique of many places. This place is no exception. According to online sources, the name of the waterfall, Las Mozas (the girls) comes from the legend of three sisters. To make a long story short, three sisters cried on top of a boulder due to heartbreak. Each one jumped into the water to calm themselves and magically became part of the aquatic world. Some say they can be heard at times. Others even claim to have seen them."
