What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Catarata Regalia Curimaná is lauded as one of Peru's most beautiful waterfalls, offering a spectacular natural experience with a scenic boat ride and jungle hike. Visitors rave about the refreshing dip and natural massage at the falls, though some note the journey can be long and the trails challenging, especially in the rainy season.
"One of the most beautiful waterfalls in Peru.
The scenery, the boat ride, and the jungle hike make this trip an unforgettable experience. Upon arrival, a beautiful curtain of water awaits us for a relaxing dip and a great dive.
Travel with a travel agency that can arrange all the services and has the appropriate logistics so you can take home a pleasant memory of this adventure."
Steve Razzeto
"If you want to enjoy the jungle, it is a very cozy space. Beautiful journey where they will take you in two types of vehicles for three hours crossing oil palm plantations, rice fields, your Zebu cattle stables and of course forests and rivers.
Next, on a small motorized raft, you will travel along the river for almost an hour where you will see birds such as toucans, black and white herons, woodpeckers and others.
Then a walk with ups and downs through the forest where you enjoy beautiful sounds. If you have a little patience you can observe toucans and woodpeckers more closely and take photos.
And as the final reward was the beautiful waterfall, be careful there is never a shortage of water. Where you can swim, pose in it and even spend 20 minutes for some natural massages. Highly recommended. Enjoy our beautiful jungle.
Maybe the tours will be a little high, but you can also do it yourself, vehicles leave from Pucallpa to Nechuya and from there to Curimana where you will take a 4x4 to enter the Jungle. Then the little ones that wait for you until you finish. From there you continue along a path that is very marked but the Jungle grows daily, so you can ask the driver of the Peque Peque to guide you through the Jungle and accompany you. Enjoy this beautiful adventure."

"Very beautiful scenery, getting there is a mega trip.
From Pucallpa, go to Terminal 6 for 25 soles to Curimana. The car leaves with 4 people. It's recommended to go early, around 9 am. There's signal and you can pay with Yape.
Then take another bus to Bello Horizonte. The fare is 12 soles per person.
Finally, in Bello Horizonte, you'll have to be lucky to have more than 4 people to get 25 soles per person on our bus, since the minimum cost per boat is 100 soles.
Bring cash; they don't use Yape.
I don't recommend going with babies under 4 years old, as the trail is very neglected. Many parts have broken boards and places where you have to be careful not to get into accidents."

Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Young Children
If you do decide to go with older children who are comfortable with hiking, ensure they have appropriate footwear and are supervised closely. The boat ride and the waterfall itself can be enjoyable for kids, but the journey and trail require careful consideration of their stamina and safety.
💰 Budget Travelers
Bring plenty of cash, as card payments are not widely accepted. Packing your own snacks and water can also help save money. Be prepared for a longer travel day compared to organized tours, but the savings can be significant.

The Journey: An Adventure in Itself
From Bello Horizonte, the adventure continues with a scenic boat ride along the river. This hour-long journey is a fantastic opportunity for wildlife spotting, with chances to see various bird species like toucans and herons. The sounds and sights of the Amazonian ecosystem envelop you, setting the stage for the natural wonder to come.
Finally, a hike through the jungle leads you to the waterfall. This trail can be challenging, with uneven terrain and potential mud, especially during the rainy season. However, the immersive experience of walking through the lush rainforest, listening to its sounds, and anticipating the reward makes the effort worthwhile.
Navigating the Trail and Safety
For those less experienced with jungle trekking or concerned about safety, opting for a guided tour is highly recommended. Guides can help navigate the trail, point out interesting flora and fauna, and provide assistance if any issues arise. This is especially important as signage for the waterfalls and other natural features might need improvement.
While the waterfall itself is a place for relaxation and enjoyment, caution is advised on the trail. It's not recommended for very young children due to the trail's condition. Being prepared with appropriate gear and considering local guidance will ensure a safer and more enjoyable experience.
Wildlife and Natural Wonders
The jungle hike itself is an immersion into a vibrant ecosystem. While the primary goal is the waterfall, the path provides chances to observe the rich biodiversity of the rainforest. Patience might reward you with closer views of birds or other small creatures.
The main attraction, Catarata Regalia, is a spectacular natural formation. The 'curtain' of water is not only visually stunning but also offers a unique therapeutic experience. Visitors can swim in the pool at its base and enjoy the powerful, natural massage provided by the falling water.
