Visitors consistently praise the Hofilena Ancestral House for its well-preserved interiors, captivating artwork, and the deeply personal guided tours led by family descendants. The house offers a genuine step back in time, with many appreciating the architectural details and historical narratives. However, potential visitors should be aware of photography restrictions on the second floor and possible wait times for tours.
"This trip to Silay would be incomplete if we missed this tour. Only one person is giving the tour so if you missed it, you need to wait for the next round of the tour for about 30 to 45 minutes. The tour is very informative. Guests are allowed to take photos on the first floor only. The second floor is off limits due to the burglary that happened in one of the important paintings displayed on that floor. Thus, to protect this ancestral home from people with ill intentions.
The tour is good for people of all ages as long as they can go up the stairs. There is a fee for the ticket and guests could leave a tip at the end of the tour.
For guests who are driving here, there is a dedicated parking lot inside the gate of the house."

"The good:
- Our guide was Rene (descendant of the Hofileña family) and was very fun; he had lots of stories to tell and was very interactive with the guests
- The house had so many interesting stuff
- The paintings were great and had lots of history
- They lend you a pamaypay (fan) while you're in the house
Good to know:
- Entrance fee for adults was P150, it was discounted for students and senior citizens, and free for children
- Can get a bit crowded depending on the time (we were there around 2 PM)
- Photos are allowed in the first floor and only in a few sections of the second floor (due to a burglary that happened a few years ago)"

"Stepping into the Hofileña Ancestral House is like stepping back in time. This beautifully preserved home isn't just a building; it's a living testament to history, family, and Filipino craftsmanship. The intricate details, from the capiz shell windows that filter the light in a magical way to the sturdy hardwood floors that whisper stories of generations past, are simply breathtaking. Every corner holds a glimpse into a bygone era, allowing you to truly appreciate the artistry and dedication that went into its creation.
The house itself is a masterpiece of architecture, showcasing the rich heritage of Filipino design. But what truly elevates the experience is the warmth and hospitality of the family who maintain it. Their passion for preserving their legacy is evident in every interaction, making the visit feel less like a tour and more like a cherished invitation into their family's history. They share stories with genuine enthusiasm, bringing the house's past to life and making the experience deeply personal and memorable.
Beyond the historical significance, the house offers a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life. The serene atmosphere, coupled with the stunning architecture and the family's welcoming spirit, creates a truly unforgettable experience. Whether you're a history buff, an architecture enthusiast, or simply seeking a peaceful and enriching experience, a visit to the Hofileña Ancestral House is highly recommended. It's a journey through time that will leave a lasting impression on your heart and soul."
