"A trip to Tacloban will not be complete without visiting the Santo Nino Shrine and Heritage Museum or the Romualdez mansion. In here one would learn to appreciate the beautiful taste of Imelda Marcos or for others frown at the extravagant way of life.
Included in its collection are Chinese and Japanese vases and porcelain , ivory artifacts, religious items which are of high quality and with stickers of the Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) which meant they were part of the assets seized after the Edsa revolution.
I just wonder though if we have updated appraisal of the value of everything inside including several Malang paintings that were part of the artworks displayed in the rooms inside the museum. The Malang paintings were no longer in display but I saw them in 2019. Per the volunteer tour guide the Malangs were put in the storage during the pandemic.
For a minimal fee of 150 per person this is a good deal. One may also opt to have a tour guide which I found better than going on our own since the guide will be able to give insider info on some historical tidbits like it was there where George Hamilton danced with Imelda Marcos.
Highly recommended when in Tacloban especially for lovers of antiquity and student of history.

"This is a sequestered Marcos family mansion turned into a museum. The design is very lavish, with most of the decorations being imported or gifted. Guided tours are available daily from 8 am to 5 pm at Php 150/adult."

"Was here in 2017 and it has declined tremendously. The ground floor was soaked in flood water in last year's typhoon and it has damaged so many of the rooms, furniture and walls. The 2nd floor was also damaged by strong winds and broke windows, curtains rails etc.
There is a fee of 200 per person for a guided tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable of the items in the shrine and the best places to take photos. It was surprising to know that the Marcos family has never stayed at this house. Imelda Marcos built this to store her items, mostly were given as "gifts
" by world leaders. It's sad that this property is not being taken cared of well."
