Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about Ribeira dos Caldeirões Natural Park's breathtaking beauty, describing it as a 'paradise' with stunning waterfalls and lush greenery. The free entry and well-preserved historic watermills are frequently highlighted as major draws, offering both natural splendor and a glimpse into local heritage. Some visitors note that the park can become crowded with tour groups, particularly those participating in waterfall rappelling, which can detract from the serene atmosphere for some. Reddit

"It was such a beautiful park, genuinely felt like walking into paradise. Although you could technically go in the waterfalls, they were pretty small and a little dirty so I didn't. But it's such an amazing spot to walk around, have a picnic... It's insanely beautiful and grandiose."

Matilde Goncalves

"Amazing park with water mills and water falls. Entrance is free of charge.
Also enter mill houses, there are different posters with a lot of useful information about the history and geography of the island, and about mills and wheat production.

After you exit the park, go on the opposite side of the park entrance, at the bridge, there is one very nice waterfall on the left. Also you can walk to the second waterfall, if you go just straight, a short walk.

I liked the park, I recommend visiting the park, if you are on the island."

Marko Intihar

"Nice nature park. Suggest showing up early or late before the tour groups arrive. Otherwise you will have to dodge tour groups in wetsuits who are there to repel down the waterfalls. Talk about breeding over tourism. A number of local tour operators are making out like bandits at the expense of others who would like to enjoy the natural beauty of the small park without hordes of people in gear filling up the narrow muddy trails. Its more than an inconvenience, it’s a hazard. San Miguel Island is beautiful. Why jam pack a bunch of nubes who have never repelled before into a beautiful little park? There are plenty of other areas on the island for beginners. One of the tour leaders had the temerity to scream at one of the tourists who was not on her tour for something she obviously didn’t like. It was rude and exacerbated the inconvenience of these tour groups"
