The opportunity to purchase high-quality 'flor de sal' is a significant draw. "The museum consists of a small family business who still run the grounds in the traditional way for harvesting the famous flor de sal from Aveiro.
They are very enthusiastic to tell about the process and are very friendly.

You can see the salt basin in different stadiums of the salt winning process, where the men still do all the labour by hand.

Beside the interesting side of the location, you can also buy some salt in the little shed that's on the front of the basins.

There are many information signs spread over the site and from the walkway that goes alongside, you have s nice view over the fields."

"Bit of a derelict hut and some panels of information around the salt flats that are out in the open. Interesting to wander around in good weather"

"I take my parents there every year to buy flower salt, also known as the caviar of salt, due to it being hand-cultivated amongst other factors. We got to see two of the local birds on the salt flats as we walked around them. You can also go for a little salt therapy as you unwind in the salinated water under the beautiful skies alongside the salt flats. It's an amazing place; well worth the visit. Just please remember to not leave any litter behind and respect the environment upon which you tread."
