What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Mercado Municipal de Faro for its incredibly fresh seafood and vibrant produce, often at great prices. While the market offers a genuine local experience with charming eateries, some tourists caution about potential overpricing for fruits and vegetables from specific vendors.
"An excellent place if you want to try fresh fish, nearly live octopus, and incredibly delicious squid. We were amazed by the variety and, most importantly, the prices. Everything is very affordable and extremely fresh. We discovered a fantastic fish shop, and at this market, you can buy any seafood you like. They’ll even recommend a nearby café where you can have it all cooked. We’ll definitely come back to try everything on the stalls!"

"I love how big this market is and the selection is good, but so sad, you can get there some tourists trap, for example, the man, who sells vegetables and fruits on the middle of the market, charged me for 1 tomato, 1 cucumber, 1 peach and 1 small onion 4€, probably even without checking the weight. All other sellers were very friendly and honest. So maybe find another place to buy veggies if you’re a tourist. Because for 20 different veggies they will charge you 20€🥲😅"
