"Fantastic stop on the way to Furnas. I think it might be best to see this before you go into Furnas for some history. The displays are first class explaining how the islands were formed. There are display about the flora, animals and life around the volcano. The staff is outstanding. We were shown around by the desk attendant and she ensured the movie was set up for us. It was well worth it. Watch the movie! We also had a complimentary tea when we had finished. There is a parking lot next to the museum but you can also park just off the main road and walk in which is my suggestion. The improved walkway goes by the lake, the gardens and the church. It takes about 12 minutes to walk each way."
