Sun Protection is Key

Natural shade is limited here. While cliffs offer shade later in the day, bringing your own umbrella is highly recommended, especially for families with young children. Beach cafes provide some respite, but can get busy.

Reviews Summary

Praia do Porto de Mós is widely praised as a spacious, clean, and family-friendly beach with ample free parking and pleasant waves suitable for beginners. Visitors appreciate its less crowded atmosphere compared to other Lagos beaches and the stunning cliff scenery, especially during sunset. Some note the lack of showers as a minor inconvenience.

"A very nice beach, spacious and not overly crowded, so it's easy to find a spot to relax.

The sea has a pleasant amount of waves, and the water was clean during my visit, with only a few small algae floating around.

There isn’t much natural shade: on the left side of the beach, there’s a cabin that provides some shadow; if you go to the right, the cliffs begin to cast shade on the beach from mid-afternoon onwards."

Fabio

"Beautiful sandy beach with plenty of parking. Perfect holiday spot. If you like trekking, there is a moderate trail that has stunning views."

"Returned several times to this beach, with a 1.5yo toddler. Parking is very close, plenty of free parking. Toilets are nearby, 2 cafes for drinks/food. The beach is very clean, on both sides with high cliffs, plenty of shallow water for kids to play and build sand castles. We brought our own food, drinks and umbrella. The waves are moderate, enough for small kids to surf and adults to entertain. No rocks, fine sand and a lot of space to walk along the beach. Perfect family beach. Missing any showers though, but that’s with other beaches the same"
