What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors often praise the passionate atmosphere and unique 'old-school' concrete architecture of Estádio do Bessa, making for a memorable football experience. However, some note that facilities are basic and show signs of wear, with limited food and drink options inside.
"Cool experience seeing Boavista play Gil Vicente. The stadium felt like I was going back in time - lots of concrete which led to a condensed feeling inside the grounds. Was nice to see many young people supporting the club and the ultras were well animated. Though I didn't like that as we were entering, some ceiling panels were missing and you could see some mold. The facilities inside also felt pretty basic - but I'm still happy I went nonetheless."
James Portoraro
"During our weeks city break in Porto, we walked our legs off exploring the City.
On our walk along the 5km Boavista Avenue, we naturally wandered up to see Estadio Do Bessa.
It`s very old school concrete, but that`s not a bad thing inan age of glass and steel and it looked solid and dependable.
I`m not sure if they did tours, but the stadium was open enough for us to get a good look around.
Well worth the effort."
John Millar
"Went to watch match versus FC Porto. Plenty of police. Flares onto the pitch. Great atmosphere from Porto fans mainly. As visitor, we had to wait afterwards until all home hand had dispersed."
