What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Praia Grande is celebrated for its spectacular scenery, dramatic cliffs, and excellent surfing conditions. Visitors appreciate the vibrant atmosphere and the unique dinosaur footprints. However, the beach's strong currents and uneven seabed make it less suitable for casual swimmers, and dining options can be overpriced. Parking is also a significant challenge during peak times.
"The beach itself is rather spectacular, very scenic, enclosed within high cliffs with dinosaur footprints at the south end of it. It's great for surfers, not so great for regular swimmers because it has uneven bottoms and dangerous currents.
The bars and restaurants on this beach are, generally speaking, either not so good or too expensive for the quality they offer, clearly taking advantage of the sea-front position.
Parking is insufficient during summer months, and the overall urban lay-out and maintenance is very poor, very disappointing for a beach this popular."

"Nice and quiet beach, good for surfers (amateurs); several surfing schools around. Watched beach with sand. Partially accessible for wheelchairs. Suncream and ashtrays for free. Showers. Cold water. (I've been there when cloudy weather)"
Martin Novák
"Nice beach cristal clear water cold very cold but easy to adapt it. Very quiet beach, I saw a surf shank type of school. I haven't seen nice waves like surfing but it's lots of fun places and relaxing"
