Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the stunning Salto do Prego waterfall and the beautiful, immersive trail leading to it. The opportunity for a refreshing swim in the clear waters is a major highlight, though some note the trail can be a bit challenging with inclines and slippery sections. The presence of local wildlife and the charming cafe add to the overall positive experience.

"The trail is a bit demanding, but manageable for most people. Trekking shoes are recommended as it can get muddy in some parts. At the end, you reach a beautiful waterfall where you can even take a refreshing swim. A great experience overall!"

Zuzin “Ig: zuzajachura”

"Easy but beautiful trail to a fantastic waterfall.

If you bring a swim suit, you could manage a little swim here. The water is very clean and clear. Be careful with the rocks though. It was not as cold as it may look (warm day, end of May).

Don't forget to also walk 2 minutes up to see the origin of the waterfall. Up there was a gorgeous valley with lots of peace and quiet.

If you bring cash, there is a little café near the end of the trail - or start, if you walk the trail backwards. Very nice way to finish off your walk.

If you come to Sao Miguel for nature, then this trail is an absolute must. Depending on your speed, it could take 2 hours or something. There is also a way to extend it."

Ramon

"Easy and quick walk to the waterfall which is very pristine. I wish I brought my bikinis for a dip. There are many hens on the trail and they sometimes follow us along. You can walk in and out on the same route but I'd recommend doing the loop following the sign that says Bar & WC which is a great place for some refreshments, homemade bakes, and a lovely view of the valley."
