While course conditions may not be pristine, the friendly staff and the chance to see local wildlife like horses add to its charm. It's a highly recommended spot for golfers seeking scenic beauty and affordability over resort-level perfection.
"Here on vacation and couldn't decide which course to play on the island. Didn't really want to pay resort prices so I thought I would check out Punta Borinquen. Glad I did. Decent price, beautiful views and friendly staff. I'll definitely be back next time."

"There’s no course in PR that comes close to Punta Borinquen in the $80 price range. Club rental was $40, and we were provided a full set of TaylorMade clubs that were pretty much brand new. This course is stunning, well kept, and the greens are very nicely take care of. Almost every hole has unbelievable ocean views. It was 100 percent worth the 2 and a half hour drive to Aguadilla and you’ll catch some great views on that drive as well. Most importantly, the staff is amazing. Everyone is so kind and they made sure all our needs were met. A course like this in the states would be $100+, no question. If you love the sport and don’t care about the distance no matter where you’re staying on the island, this is the course to visit."

"For context, I'm a 16 handicap who golfs every other week at a nice public course on the east coast. My wife is Puerto Rican and we vacation in Isabela every year. You have to think about this course from a local perspective. Conditions on the island are rough, from both weather and economy perspectives. This is a public course in Puerto Rico. It is not sustainable to keep a public course in pristine condition that only costs $25 to walk. A few of the greens are in rough shape. The fairways are not exactly carpet. But the course is very playable, and the staff works hard to keep it that way. Today I had a great time golfing here. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The views along the coast are gorgeous. The horses and iguanas and the odd item you didn't expect to see is just Puerto Rico and is part of the charm. I don't know where else in the world you can golf on such a beautiful course right on the ocean for such a reasonable price. If you are expecting a U.S. private club-like experience, then you would be better off paying $250 a round to golf somewhere else on the island."
