What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Punta Santiago offers stunning sunrise views and is a prime spot for surf fishing and beach walks. However, visitors should be aware of the damaged pier, strong riptides making swimming unsafe, and limited facilities. The nearby nature reserve provides an alternative for exploration.
"I live in Verde Mar (across the street) and fish this beach a few mornings each week. It is a beautiful beach to walk, find seashells, and watch the sunrise over Monkey Island and Vieques.
I would not suggest swimming as there is no lifeguard, and the riptides are strong. As a former pro swimmer, I feel it is dangerous even for a swimmer of my level. And there is usually nobody else on the beach, so if you're in trouble in the water, there is no help coming.
I love it for fishing and have caught a number of species from the surf. Typical two sandbar with multiple holes, cuts, and troughs."
