"The Bucegi Mountains will blow you away – stunning landscapes, vast plains, rocky peaks, and that special feeling like you’re somewhere between Rohan and the Forbidden Forest. Even in summer, brace yourself for chilly winds and unpredictable weather – so pack that extra hoodie. This mountain range is wrapped in legends and local myths, from mysterious energies and hidden tunnels to famous rock formations like the Sphinx and Babele, which some conspiracy theorists claim are remnants of ancient civilizations or alien bases. Well, we didn’t spot any aliens, but the place definitely has an otherworldly vibe. A trip here? Totally unforgettable. :)

"Absolutely amazing. The Telecabina is a great transportation service, although a bit expensive. If you love hiking this is the place for you. The Babele and Sfinxul rocks are great and can be see right after getting off the Telecabina. There are multiple shops at the entrance as well, most of which only take cash. I recommend hiking beyond this point further into the mountains; there are colored signs indicating different paths.
Wonderful views and experience."

"Bucegi mountain is so beautiful. You can drive up to the coffee shop and park your car there. There is plenty of space to park your car. From there you have to walk about an hour to reach the Babele monument and the Sfinx- a natural rock formation. On the way to the natural rock formations, you'll have to pay 10 lei per person to visit Bucegi mountain. The good thing is that the tickets are available for 3 months and for all trails in Bucegi mountain. The mountain is perfect for day hikes and trail running. There is also a telegondola from Bușteni to Babele. Make sure you wear proper footwear and clothing appropriate for the weather too. Not far from Sfinx and Babele there's a place where you can buy roasted or boiled sweet corn during the summertime."

For Different Travelers
Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
Consider packing plenty of snacks, especially if you plan on longer hikes. While there are some food options on the plateau, options can be limited. Emphasize the importance of staying on marked trails and keeping a close eye on children, especially near steeper sections or drop-offs. The legends surrounding the rock formations can make for engaging storytelling during your visit.
💰 Budget Travelers
Pack your own food and water to avoid purchasing from potentially pricier on-site vendors. Look for accommodation in towns like Bușteni or Sinaia, which often offer more affordable guesthouses and hostels compared to mountain resorts. Remember that many smaller shops might only accept cash, so carry some Romanian Lei with you.
🚶♀️ Solo Adventurers
Always inform someone of your planned route and expected return time. Carry a fully charged phone and consider a portable power bank. Familiarize yourself with the trail map and carry navigation tools. While the Sphinx and Babele are easily accessible, venturing onto more remote or challenging trails solo requires careful planning and experience. The Reddit community advises caution and preparedness for solo excursions.
