Adrian Radu Andrasi

"The faculty is ok, but the schedule and the work system of the cashiers are horrible. I came at 8:30 to pay a fee (the schedule says they open at 8) and no one was there. A lady told me that "she'll be there". And it's not the first time. When registering, I came to inquire about a fee together with a few other people, again no one was there. We had to ask from person to person until we found out that the lady was on vacation. She could have left a message at the cashier. Not to mention that the poster with payment by bank transfer is out of order. When paying the fees, they told me that they don't recommend it because it's difficult for them to show it in the system."

The Legacy of Constantin Brâncuși

Constantin Brâncuși (1874-1957) was a pioneering Romanian sculptor who is considered one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. His work is characterized by its simplicity, elegance, and focus on essential forms. Brâncuși sought to capture the 'essence' of his subjects rather than their literal appearance, moving away from traditional representation towards abstraction. His artistic philosophy emphasized purity of form and material, believing that the material itself held inherent beauty. TikTok

The Brâncuși Ensemble in Târgu Jiu is a testament to his profound artistic vision and his connection to his homeland. Commissioned in the 1930s, these monumental works were created to commemorate the efforts of Romanian soldiers in World War I. The ensemble comprises three major pieces: 'The Endless Column', 'The Gate of the Kiss', and 'The Table of Silence', all strategically placed within the city's landscape. Each sculpture carries deep symbolic meaning, reflecting themes of life, death, love, and the human spirit. Reddit

Brâncuși's influence can be seen in the works of countless artists who followed, and his sculptures continue to inspire awe and contemplation. The Târgu Jiu ensemble is not just a collection of art; it's a spiritual journey, inviting visitors to reflect on universal human experiences through the power of abstract form. The enduring legacy of Brâncuși lies in his ability to imbue simple materials with profound emotional and philosophical depth. TikTok

Exploring the Sculptures: Symbolism and Experience

The Brâncuși Ensemble in Târgu Jiu is a powerful artistic statement, with each sculpture offering a unique contemplative experience. 'The Endless Column' is perhaps the most iconic, a soaring structure composed of repeating rhomboidal modules that seems to stretch infinitely towards the sky. It symbolizes the infinite sacrifice and the upward striving of the human spirit. Its sheer verticality and repetitive pattern create a mesmerizing effect, drawing the eye upwards and encouraging introspection. Instagram

'The Gate of the Kiss' is a more intimate sculpture, representing the embrace of lovers. Carved from stone, its abstract yet recognizable form evokes a sense of deep connection and eternal love. The way the two figures merge into a single, unified shape is a powerful visual metaphor for unity and passion. Visitors often find themselves drawn to its tender symbolism, reflecting on relationships and human connection. Reddit

Finally, 'The Table of Silence' is a circular stone table surrounded by twelve hourglass-shaped stools. This arrangement evokes a sense of timelessness and communal gathering, a place for reflection and shared moments. The simplicity of the design, combined with the natural materials, creates a serene and meditative atmosphere. Together, these three masterpieces form a cohesive narrative, inviting visitors to engage with themes of eternity, love, and contemplation. TikTok
