What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors appreciate the serene beauty of the park and the dedication to preserving Glinka's legacy, with guides often praised for their engaging stories. However, some feel the museum house lacks a substantial collection of original artifacts, leaving rooms feeling somewhat empty without the context of a tour.
"It leaves me with mixed feelings. On the one hand, it's wonderful that the Glinka family history hasn't been forgotten, and their ancestral home is being recreated. It's wonderful that the park isn't abandoned, that people come, and that the staff is responsive and prepared. On the other hand, the home of the great self-taught composer contains virtually no personal belongings, not even those of his family. You could even say there aren't many items from the era. And this isn't so much the museum's fault as its curators'. How much more wonderful the museum would be if separate rooms housed items from that era—perhaps not from the family, but at least from his contemporaries. And most importantly, it would be wonderful if the composer's museum featured his music. For all visitors, not for mass tours."

"The house-museum is located in the tiny village of Novospasskoye. It's a very quiet place with beautiful nature. The house-museum is essentially a new building, as the original house has disappeared. However, a magnificent park with trees, some hundreds of years old, remains from Glinka's time. We took a tour of the museum. This is very important, otherwise you won't learn anything. Our guide, Zoya Mikhailovna, recounted the key moments of the composer and his parents' lives, explained how the house was recreated, and how it was filled with Glinka's personal belongings and other artifacts. It's definitely worth a visit."

"A wonderful, secluded, beautiful place. The house-museum has been restored and maintained with great love by the museum staff. Special thanks to the guides for the wonderful story about the life of M.I. Glinka. We learned a lot of new things for ourselves. I highly recommend visiting the house-museum, walking in the park and drinking water from the holy spring."
