Reviews Summary
Ascension Feodosievskaya Church offers a visually striking upper church and a peaceful lower Cave Church, housing important relics. However, some visitors report challenging experiences with clergy during services like baptisms, citing intrusive questioning and a lack of amenities. There are also perceptions of high service fees.
"We baptized our child in this church. The upper church is all gold and luxury, and the lower church where baptisms are held is nondescript. There is a woman in the church shop who is very hard of hearing and even if you dictate your last name to her letter by letter, she will still manage to mangle it. She made mistakes in the baptism certificate. They didn’t start a new one, they just put the incorrect last names in brackets and wrote the correct ones next to them. During the baptism itself, the priest took me and another mother behind a curtain and asked us 4 times if we had had abortions. It was quite unpleasant. We could have stopped at the second time. The priest was always trying to reproach us for something and was very rude. In the end, he walked around and said that his signature must be on the certificate. Although he quickly disappeared somewhere, and in the church shop they said that only a seal was needed. It was very inconvenient to change the child’s clothes, there is nothing for this, only narrow wooden benches. I always thought that babies are baptized by dipping them in a font, and adults are poured with a ladle, but in the end my five-month-old child was suddenly doused with water from a ladle. I was left with unpleasant impressions from going to this temple and baptizing a child. There was no human attitude, although the temple implies this. Incomprehensible grandmothers approaching and trying to touch the child. Although I do not think this is appropriate in a pandemic. As well as the fact that there are almost no people in masks there."

"A temple with new icons and very old, prayed-over ones. There are two temples: the upper and the lower (Cave). The Cave Temple is a abode for those who want to sit, pray leisurely, and relax under the icons. There are church benches in both temples, but there is more choice in the Cave Temple. The territory of the temple is fenced, which is well-groomed and decorated with planted flowers and fir trees. There are benches where laymen can rest."

"The relics of our saints from Mokino rest here.
The lower church is quiet and peaceful.
During the day, you can relax and unwind."
