Reviews Summary

The Chernyshevsky House Museum offers a historically rich experience, with many visitors praising the atmospheric estate and the dedication of some staff members, particularly guides who bring Chernyshevsky's story to life. However, a few guests have reported negative interactions with certain staff and noted that the exhibition displays could benefit from modernization and more efficient ticketing processes.

"The museum is wonderful; we visited it on November 4, 2025. The staff is wonderful, except for the woman working that day on the second floor of the main building. Her conversation with us began with the question, "Are we local?" We answered that we were. Immediately, we were met with accusations along the lines of, "Why are you here? Didn't you come here when you were in school?" Incidentally, we are all over 30, and yes, we never visited this museum in school. We then asked about the exhibition in another building. The woman immediately began scolding us for arriving late (5:20 PM) and saying we wouldn't get in because she had to secure the buildings, which takes about 30 minutes. Incidentally, the poster said the museum was open until 6:00 PM. The woman began complaining about sitting there all day without using the restroom or eating lunch. We were dumbfounded by this behavior. They replied that they came as best they could, and that it was her job. They started hurling at us words about us violating the constitution by arriving late to the museum. The overall impression was negative because of this woman, supposedly a museum employee, but acting like a mean security guard, who scolded us like students who were late to the dorm."

"The museum itself is okay. A nice park with flowers and bird cherry trees, clean.

However, it seemed that the exhibition had been there since the museum was founded. Documents, objects, and paintings were displayed in a densely packed manner. The TV partially covered the paintings at Fomin's exhibition.

The technical side of the museum's work needs to be improved. We decided to see everything. It took 15 minutes to get tickets. At the box office, they tore each one out for us separately, calculated the cost of the tickets on a calculator, the woman made mistakes several times. Maybe it makes sense to make a joint ticket or at least two for the permanent and temporary exhibition.

I understand that age and life's troubles have a big impact, but no one has cancelled a professional attitude to the matter. I didn't like the grumbling and unnecessary comments of the employees: "Without a tour, you won't learn anything, it won't be clear" or "You walked quickly, you should have taken a guide." They discussed the number of visitors out loud in our presence, someone even argued and bickered. Believe me, museum visitors don't need these comments and negativity, we know why we came to the museum and what we want to see. If necessary, we will ask for advice👍🏼"
