Nestled in Germany’s oldest city, the Trier Christmas Market turns the historic Hauptmarkt and Cathedral Square into a winter wonderland. • Surrounded by medieval buildings, the market glows beneath the spires of Trier Cathedral, the oldest church in Germany. Founded in 1979, it may be younger than some of Germany’s famous markets, but it has become one of the most charming and romantic, loved fo...

Reviews Summary

Cathedral Square is a central and picturesque public space, praised for its beautiful fountain, diverse architecture, and poignant Chernobyl memorial. Visitors enjoy the seasonal transformations, especially the festive Christmas markets. However, some find the upkeep of flower beds inconsistent and note the presence of 'marginal individuals' on benches, impacting the overall ambiance at times.

"The frontal place of the city! Opposite is the business center "Tver" and near the park there is a house with graffiti - parting words of A.I. Solzhenitsyn. Children paint tiles beautifully with colored chalk... At the end of the park you can see two towers of the Mosque and the Catholic Church... I have never seen anything like this!... garden and park workers decorate flower beds beautifully... a fountain... I sip a quasi-alcoholic drink... respectfully and peacefully everything is calm... I even became touched idyllic"

Виктор Беляев

"In Tver for the first time, on a business trip. And so it was the only “sleep day”, it was decided to walk a little around the city of our stay). Quite by accident, while wandering around the streets, which are quite dirty at this time of year [February 17], I came across a small public garden. A small walking area, paved with tiles, a sufficient number of benches, branched poplars, and in the center of all this stood a monument to the Liquidators of the Chernobyl Disaster of 1986-1990, which immediately caught my eye. How deep is the work of a sculptor? The most ordinary man, dressed in a simple chemical protection suit (not intended for this at all, which was put on more likely to calm down a little) shields the splitting reactor core with his back, giving his life for his own family and friends. Moreover, all the awareness and hopelessness of the liquidator’s situation is clearly visible in the expression of his face, personifying the desire of the person sentenced to death to look at the sky for the last time... And the engraved inscription that reads:
"The whole world then froze in alarm,
When the heroes put out the flames,
Their death became a common grief.
We give Glory to the Heroes
When the blue was blazing,
So that the earth is alive.
The country mourns in silence.
And we will preserve their names."

But what touched me to the very depths of my soul was a small bag of fresh tulips, probably brought by one of those very near and dear ones...
We need more places like this... There is no such thing as too much memory."

Иван Аносов

"A picturesque park-like spot where you can spend a pleasant time. There are plenty of benches, a beautiful fountain, and a street lined with cafes nearby. The park is often visited by both tourists and Tver residents. There are also souvenir shops here, where you can buy a souvenir of your visit to Tver for yourself or your friends."
