What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Al Thumamah National Park for its vast desert landscapes and opportunities for adventure like dune bashing and BBQs. The availability of private tents with amenities enhances the comfort of desert stays. However, some note that quad bike rentals can be expensive and litter can detract from the scenery.
"Been here a few times... the sand in most places is not as soft as in Red Sand Dunes so you can risk driving your 4-wheel drive as long as you deflate the tires a bit. The first time we went we got stuck because I didn't deflate my car tires.
Quad bikes here are more expensive to hire out compared to Red Sand Dunes ... about 30 or more riyal per hour.
The scenery is great but because it's not being cleaned regularly there is trash lying around which kind of puts a dampener on things.
UPDATE: we went again on 17th April 2021 and the weather was amazingly cool, not hot at all, like it should be at this time of the year."

"The place is like huge area of desert covered, just besides the international airport in Riyadh. Security was tight at the main entrance. Small guest houses were built for families in different location. Good for winter night BBQ. they have little wildlife there, mostly camels, hyena, 2 giraffe, 2 ostrich, crocodile, turtle etc. Other then this it's good to go when there is a special event there. Paragliding is also available inhere. If you love desert life then it's an good place to be there."

"Very good hygiene and privacy.this is private area, you have to book a tent before. Tent is like a home. There is fire camp and bbq setup also available but we can buy that materials. Separate toilet for every tent. It’s very neet and clean"
