What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Jabal Ayr offers stunning panoramic views of Madinah and a unique cafe experience, but the unpaved road requires a 4x4 and the historical context can feel at odds with modern tourism. Some visitors found the entrance fee high for the overall experience.
"The experience was pleasant and the reception was welcoming, but the road is somewhat rough and needs improvement still newly opened . However, the view from the top overlooking the city and the Holy Mosque is beautiful, especially in winter when the weather is nice. Entree fee 25 online and then 25 at the reception so 50 SAR"

"I went to see this mountain with my husband, we are not even sure why we decided to go up other than we thought we would learn more about the mountain the day it was suggested to us. As soon as we came in to book a ticket the man who spoke to us was kind however we asked him for information about the mountain he only spoke about the height he never mentioned the Hadiths of the mountain (interesting). the lady collecting the payment from my husband was incredibly arrogant and rude. when we paid 50 riyal each to go up we realised it was a waste of money and boring, the staff mentioned when we go to the top we can spend 200 more riyals to drink coffee (we did not come to sit and drink coffee we came to learn about the mountain). When we reached the top I felt the ambiance a lot of people were angry looking and I can understand why. The Hadith mentions this mountain is the opposite of Jabal Uhud the gate of hell it hates us and we are supposed to hate it so why in the world are people chilling at the top of the hated mountain relaxing/ drinking coffee and tea. There is a reason we did not see international visitors there and why the ambiance feels as if the hated mountain has made the staff miserable. please avoid going to this mountain I learnt my lesson visit uhud (mountain which loves us) instead."

"It's a nice place, gives you a bird eye view of Madinah city from mountain top.
You can hike to the top or visit by a 4x4 vehicle. Road is unpaved, Forget about going by car as you will damage it, go by proper 4x4 with reasonable ground clearance. Road ascent and descent is pretty steep, use 4 low for going up and coming down as well, while coming down in 4 low use 1 gear to provide engine braking as conventional brakes could overheat quickly and fail. Be safe and enjoy."
