Reviews Summary

Visitors appreciate the unique historical aspect of the Košice Children's Historical Railway, particularly its operation by young staff and its status as a remnant of the communist era. The short, charming ride and the opportunity to see old locomotives are highlights. However, some find the ticket prices high for the brief journey and lack of scenic views, and emphasize the importance of checking the train's strict timetable.

"Nice short trip, around 25 minutes up the hill. No special views. Staff are children, last touristic railway from this kind in Slovakia from communist era. At the top station you have a restaurant and you can relax. Bus 14 brings you every 30 minutes to the lower station."

Maikel Kegels

"Children's railways throughout central Europe are a special experience. Usually narrow gauge, they are (or were) an apprenticeship scheme for school children where they could learn in a setting other than a classroom, sponsored by the state railways, and hopefully walk into a job, already trained and almost qualified - a win for both parties.

The Children's Railway at Čermel, Košice is I think more of a preservation effort these days but the spirit is still there and fun is obviously had whilst learning. We had a great morning there."

Alan Rogers

"Maybe it's worth going with preschool children. And for the whole family (we were five) it seemed too expensive (35€) - at least for this price we expected more. You have to check the timetable when the train leaves - we didn't know that and waited for the train whole hour."
