Its grand Neo-Baroque style and central location on Kongresni trg are frequently highlighted as major draws, offering excellent photo opportunities and a glimpse into Slovenia's academic heritage. "The University of Ljubljana is not just a place of learning; it's a stunning piece of history and architecture right in the heart of the city. The campus is spread out with beautiful old buildings that give off a classic European university vibe. Whether you’re walking around the central building or exploring some of the quieter parts of the campus, it’s easy to get lost in the charm of its historic structure.
I passed by it while exploring the city and was impressed by how well the university blends in with the rest of Ljubljana’s architectural landscape, yet still stands out. It's a great spot for photos, especially with the sculptures and fountains around the area. If you're into history or architecture, it’s definitely worth checking out. A concert was being held just in front of it as the venue was set up - but unfortunately we did not get to see it."

"Founded in 1919, the university is the oldest and largest national university in Slovenia. The grand building adjacent to Kongresni trg serves as the university’s main headquarters. Constructed in 1902 in the Neo-Baroque style, the building originally housed the provincial government of Carniola. Several faculty buildings and campus areas were designed by Jože Plečnik and are now protected as cultural heritage sites. The university is especially renowned for its programs in philosophy, architecture, law, natural sciences, and the arts. It is also the intellectual home of the Ljubljana School of Psychoanalysis, led by Slavoj Žižek, which blends philosophy, psychoanalysis, structuralism, and Marxism—establishing a distinctive voice within contemporary continental thought."
