Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the incredible experience of seeing African Penguins up close in their natural habitat at Stony Point. The well-maintained boardwalks and the natural setting are frequently praised, offering a more peaceful alternative to busier penguin viewing spots. While some visitors noted fewer penguins during certain months, the conservation efforts and the overall beauty of the location are consistently highlighted as major draws.

"We visited Stony Point Penguin Colony over the weekend, and what an incredible experience it was! 🐧 The penguins are so well cared for and simply beautiful to watch in their natural habitat. Strolling along the beach and the wooden walkways was an absolute treat – everything is spotless and so well maintained.

It was lovely to see so many families and visitors enjoying the seaside, taking photos, and admiring these amazing creatures. I especially loved the little penguin houses – such a thoughtful touch to keep them safe and comfortable.

This was my first visit, and it truly exceeded my expectations. My kids and I had the best time, surrounded by nature at its finest. I highly recommend a visit – it’s an unforgettable experience for the whole family!"

"At this time of year, October there are very few penguins. It works be great value if you could see more penguins. Saw a few cormorants and dassies. If you visit outside September and October it should be amazing as the viewing points are good for when the penguins return in larger numbers. Whatever happens you are giving money to support the protection of penguins so worth it"

Andrew Symons

"Such a lovely and peaceful place to see African penguins up close! Compared to other spots like Boulders Beach, Stony Point feels much less crowded and more natural.

Unfortunately, the main boardwalk was closed during our visit, so we could only walk along the stony beach path outside the fenced area."
