What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Simonsig Wine Estate for its rich history, exceptional wines, and unique experiences like sabrage. The friendly service, delicious food platters, and family-friendly amenities, including a kids' play area, contribute to a highly satisfying visit. While some note changes in staff, the quality of wine and overall experience remain top-notch, making it a beloved destination in Stellenbosch.
"I always love visiting the Simonsig Wine Estate and this time around was no different. We had a great time. We began our visit with a wine tasting where I went for the option of selecting 6 different wines in their different categories and my wife their bubbly, Cap Classique, tasting. Every wine we sampled was full of flavour, and I appreciated that we could taste wines from different budget categories which gave me a clear picture of their overall quality. After the tasting we decided to grab a cheese and charcuterie platter which paired perfectly with their wines. The highlight for me though, was when I got the opportunity to sabrage a bottle of their Kaapse Vonkel Brut - it was a fun and exhilarating experience which I highly recommend! If you want to do the sabrage, the price includes a bottle of the Kaapse Vonkel. To top the entire experience off, they have a nice shaded kids' play area to keep the little ones entertained and the service was friendly. Simonsig consistently delivers, making it a must-visit for any wine lover."

"What a beautiful vineyard located in Stellenbosch with a well rooted history. This vineyard has spectacular views of the mountain with delicious served wines. We went for the 6x tasting of the day, which included 2 glasses of sparking wine, 2 glasses of white wine and 2 glasses of red wine. Absolutely stunning view of the mountain which you can never get enough of paired with some quality wine. I highly recommend the labyrinth Cabernet Sauvignon or the Tiara. 2 of my personal favourites from this vineyard. The team and management seems to have changed since last visit but still delivered too notch service with quality explanations of each wine. What a lovely way to end of the afternoon!"

"Our first wine tasting in Stellenbosch and we stayed 3h, in stead of 1h.
Sunny is an amazing sommelier.
We started at first with a basic winetaste session, but Simon offered us the option to taste same wines, over different years, giving you a glance, what happens with a wine, over the years.
Sunny is a nice guy to listen to.
You definately need to add this house into your todo list
We enjoyed a nice food platter next to it (it was needed haha)"
