What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the George Museum for its rich local history exhibits and vibrant art gallery, highlighting the friendly and welcoming staff. While the free admission is appreciated, some note that the museum's reliance on donations impacts its upkeep. The ongoing renovations are seen as a positive step towards enhancing the facility.
"What a delightful little museum smack bang on the corners of York street and Courtenay street, in the middle of George.
It hosts several themes from wood, dolls, insects, antiques, etc.
Staff are very friendly and helpful. It is amazing that such a place operates without charging any fees, but I suppose this approach is also responsible for the decline of the facility, because they aren't receiving any fees from visitors.
Visit this gem before it vanishes completely."

"Lovely exhibition of local history combined with a large art gallery. Staff is very welcoming and friendly, the mix of some of the darker history with artworks is great!"
Sebastian Geijer
"A small but interesting museum showcasing the history of the area. There is also a large art gallery on site with new exhibitions every few months, mostly artists from the Garden route. The museum is in the process of being revamped."
