What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the breathtaking beauty of the Valley of Desolation, calling it an unforgettable highlight of the Karoo. The park's tranquil atmosphere and unique geological formations are highly praised, making it a must-visit for nature lovers and photographers. However, some guests noted that the campsite's ablution facilities are basic and could benefit from upgrades.
"Overnight at Camdeboo National Park – Nqweba Campsite
Our stay at Nqweba campsite was memorable. The stands are spacious, each with electricity, a bench and table with seating, and a braai. Unfortunately, there’s no water point at the sites and no shade.
The shared kitchen area is handy, with a freezer, two basins for washing dishes, and two 2-plate stoves – nice to have as an option. Bathrooms, however, are far too small (only 2 toilets and 2 showers), and they really need an urgent upgrade.
We only spotted eland during our visit, but the setting is beautiful. A swimming pool would be a welcome addition, especially since nights were freezing cold, and summers must get very hot.
Sadly, we didn’t have time to visit the Valley of Desolation – but that just gives us a reason to return. Hopefully next time we’ll see some improvements at the ablutions. 🙏"

"Absolutely loved this experience was there 8 years before, this time we were able to do more hiking. And explore, loved it. The staff are wonderful can’t wait to do the viewing area when we go again. I love praying here. Absolutely beautiful."

"Really love Sanparks. The park itself is maintained really well and the facilities are well looked after. Major issues are being had with the Monkey population unfortunately, they even went so far as to break brand new, unused tupperware. It didn't help that they only emptied out bin once for the week that we were there despite there being a team of cleaners at the camp"
