Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Goukamma Nature Reserve for its beautiful seaside and fynbos views, pristine beaches, and unique fossilised footprints. The abundant birdlife and tranquil lakeside settings are also highlights. However, some find the roads to the reserve challenging, trail markings inconsistent, and parking limited. The 'ferry' crossing can also be a demanding workout.

"What a wonderful nature area and so close to a big city. We made use of the cottage accommodation and were pleasantly surprised at how spacious and modern it is furnished. Everything is provided for and the kitchen is stocked with a full set of cutlery and crockery, pots etc. Even a water purifier is installed. What a difference this was after coming from the Tsitsikamma Storms River Mouth Camp with it's outdated and badly maintained chalets for twice the price. Goukamma is a birders and hikers paradise and is the best place to get rid of the city cobwebs."

"Second part of the trail is very pretty, but windy as you’re mostly walking on the ridge line.

Beautiful seaside and fynbos views, the “ferry” is a challenge 😂"

Taisia Petrova

"This place is located in the middle of an natural Reserve. The roads to get there is really bad and stony, be prepared.
In total you have to drive from the highway around 1h to get to the entrance. There you need to pay around 50 R per person, which is fine.
Then there is anpther 15minutes drive to reach the dunes. This place is really nice! Especially with good weather conditions. Usually windy and big waves. There is also a restaurant and some lonly beaches around."
