On way home 10 days later we stayed in Rondawel for 2 nights
On arrival after 14h our unit 35 was not ready yet.
We were moved to unit 38
Door lock faulty, dish cloth was filthy. I washed it. The toilet seat was not clean. I cleaned the seat & shower floor.
The floor was dirty.
The bedding at least was clean.
We were told the rondawels were renovated.
I left a note on the table as well.
We wont stay in the Rondawels again

Navigating the Campsites: North vs. South
On the other hand, the Northside camp is frequently described as being less busy and offering a more secluded experience. If you're seeking extra tranquility and fewer fellow campers, Northside might be your preference. However, it's important to note that some visitors have reported security concerns at the North Camp, with instances of theft. While the park is generally safe, it's wise to be extra vigilant with your belongings, especially overnight.
Both camps provide access to the beautiful Touw River and the park's natural wonders. Consider the sun exposure, crowd levels, and your comfort with security measures when making your choice. Many visitors enjoy staying at both to experience the different atmospheres.
Adventures on the Touw River
A sunset float on the river is frequently highlighted as a magical experience. Imagine drifting on warm water as the sky paints itself in vibrant colors – it’s a moment of pure bliss. For those who prefer a more relaxed approach, simply tying inflatable kayaks together and enjoying a leisurely drift is also a fantastic option. The river's calm nature makes it accessible for all ages and skill levels.
Beyond paddling, the river is also a gateway to exploring the park's natural beauty. A boat trip or paddle through the national park offers a unique perspective of the lush vegetation and potential wildlife sightings. It’s a chance to immerse yourself in the serene environment and appreciate the 'ebb and flow' of nature.
Hiking the Kingfisher Trail to the Waterfall
One of the unique features of this hike is the pontoon crossing. This adds an element of fun and adventure to the trek, making it a memorable experience for many. The trail winds through the natural landscape, offering beautiful views and a chance to connect with nature.
While the hike is highly recommended, it's advisable to wear comfortable hiking shoes and be prepared for varying terrain. The reward at the end – the stunning waterfall – makes the effort entirely worthwhile. It’s a perfect activity for those who enjoy a moderate hike and the beauty of natural cascades.
