What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Mokala National Park is lauded for its exceptional tranquility, stunning scenery, and abundant wildlife, particularly large antelope and diverse birdlife. Visitors appreciate the well-maintained roads and the park's malaria-free status. However, the lack of on-site amenities like shops, restaurants, and petrol stations requires thorough preparation, and some accommodations have reported minor maintenance issues.
"The best thing about this park is the stunning scenery. It’s quiet and is split with big game in the west and lesser game in the eastern part of the park. Rhodes grave well worth a visit. Lots of rock paintings as well"
Jonathan Lang
"The park is very well maintained. Almost all roads can by used by normal vehichles. We saw abundant animals during our two drives in the park.
Only negatives: no grocery shop or petrol available and no restaurant. You must bring everything yourself. On the web there are still photo's of the restaurant at Mosu which misled us a little bit.
We stayed in Mosu Lodge - chalet 3 is very well equipped and neat. There is just an awful, disgusting smell from one of the drains in the bathroom. We did report it, but unfortuanetly it was not fixed before our second night of sleep over. We had a difficult time sleeping because of the smell.
We can never the less recommend Mokala Park. The nature, wildlife and tranquility is extraordinary. The overall staff is very friendly and helpful. We shall surely visit Mokala again."
Marianne De Wet
"Great option for those who want a less crowded wildlife experience than Kruger. Lots of large antelope, buffalo, and giraffe and a birder paradise. Camped at Motswedi which is small and a bit 'tired' looking but staff work hard to keep it spick and span."
