On the 17 May, we admitted a Black-winged Kite with a severe double fracture and open wounds to his ulna and radius. He was first brought to Tenikwa Wildlife Rehabilitation and Awareness Centre by a group of caring local children and then transferred to Robberg Veterinary Clinic, where Hanlie le Roux treated his injuries with honey, a natural and highly effective antibacterial commonly used in wil...

We visited Tenikwa Animal Rehabilitation Centre @tenikwa_wildlife in The Crags, South Africa. Tenikwa does great work in rehabilitating wildlife, and release most back into the wild. But some can’t be released, for various reasons. For example, some big cats were confiscated as illegal pets or surrendered by zoos after being bred in captivity, so they weren’t taught to hunt for themselves and wi...

Reviews Summary

Tenikwa Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre is highly praised for its compassionate conservation efforts and educational tours. Visitors rave about the knowledgeable and passionate guides, the opportunity to get close to animals like lions and cheetahs, and the direct support their visit provides to wildlife rescue. Some guests enjoyed the unique Lion Cabins and the immersive 'Cats in Conservation' experience.

"Tenikwa Wildlife Rehabilitation & Awareness Centre is a truly remarkable place that highlights the humane and compassionate side of wildlife conservation. It provides care for animals that can no longer survive in the wild, such as lions, cheetahs, and other endangered species. Injured animals are treated and, if possible, released back into their natural habitat. Those that cannot return to the wild are given a safe and supportive environment within the center.

One of the most impressive aspects of Tenikwa is how close visitors can get to the animals, all under the guidance of knowledgeable and passionate guides. We were fortunate to be accompanied by Davison, who made the experience truly exceptional. Even better, our visit happened to coincide with feeding time, so we got to witness cheetahs and other wild cats being fed—a rare and unforgettable sight.

By purchasing a ticket, you’re not just enjoying a unique experience—you’re also directly supporting the center’s mission to care for and protect wildlife. It’s an experience that combines education, conservation, and awe-inspiring encounters with nature. A visit to Tenikwa is absolutely worth it."

"Tenikwa is a excellent place for family bring kids to visit. My little girl really enjoyed to vist Tenikwa. Tenikwa is a non- profit wildlife animals place, there is a wildlife hospital to rescued so many animals, and also adopted some of them if they are not suitable to live at wild anymore. The tour guider is really nice and to introduce all animals to our family, and educating kids how to save the environment."

"We had a fantastic day with our beautiful lady guide who was so knowledgeable and so keen answer our questions no matter how small. She took us to meet the cats and was really informative. We did a forest walk as part of our trip and saw several species of bird. Thanks so much for such a wonderful day.
