"Incredible experience. Mike (our guide), was so knowledgeable and cared deeply about our family’s experience. We travelled nearly 16 hours in flights to make it here and it was worth every moment. Big shout out to the housekeeping crews who kept our rooms tidy, the waitstaff who served delicious meals, and the bar staff (Collen and Louis) who took great care of us too. We will be back one day!"

"1st class. Rooms were great. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Safaris were more than we hoped for. Guide (Reggie), was great. Saw every animal we wanted to see in their own environment. Once in a lifetime experience."

"Experienced everything we wanted and more at Mala Mala - saw all the Big 5 and their babies, even the rhino which our exceptional guide Bens took the special time to find! The quality of the terrain and game here is absolutely unmatched (we saw big cats or new species every drive) and even the drive itself offers you an insane view. Some of the highlights were getting up close to a pride of ~15 lions feasting on a buffalo, seeing 3 baby cheetahs and 4 lion cubs sleeping.
Every day and game drive there are exceptional meals and drinks, we particularly loved the morning Amarula x coffee combo, and had a great time between drives at the games room / massage offering / sitting by the pool to watch the elephants or making great use of the fitness centre.
The Boma was also an awesome feast whereby the staff showed off their dancing and singing talent! The lamb was a highlight of the whole trip.
We will really miss the poppyseed muffins too 🫶 Thank so much Bens and the Mala family! Can’t wait to come back"

Beyond the Big Five, expect to see cheetahs, wild dogs, hyenas, hippos, crocodiles, and a plethora of birdlife. The consistent quality of sightings is a major draw for repeat visitors and a significant reason why MalaMala is a top choice for safari enthusiasts.
Guides at MalaMala are highly trained and experienced trackers, possessing an intimate knowledge of the animals' territories and behaviors. Their skill in interpreting animal signs, such as tracks and calls, is crucial for locating elusive species like the leopard. This expertise, combined with the reserve's rich wildlife population, ensures that every game drive is an adventure filled with potential for unforgettable sightings and photographic opportunities.

This skill is particularly vital for spotting elusive animals like leopards, which are a specialty of the Sabi Sand.
Game drives typically occur twice a day: an early morning drive as the sun rises and the bush awakens, and a late afternoon/evening drive that continues after sunset, often with the use of spotlights to find nocturnal animals. These drives are not just about spotting animals; they are also opportunities to learn about the ecosystem, the flora, and the intricate relationships within the wild. Many guests highlight the knowledgeable and caring guides as a key factor in their unforgettable experience.
