Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the marvelous and superb views from Mirador de la Concepción, especially during sunset when the city lights sparkle. The hike is generally considered enjoyable, though some note it can be steep and occasionally poorly marked. A few reviewers mention litter as a downside, urging visitors to be more mindful.
"Wonderful trail which you can start from the parkplaces by the beach.
The trail can be a little bit step at times and maybe sometimes you can possibly miss the marking of the trail which we did and then took a little longer by going by the street but still a nice trail more through different streets. At points you have already a nice view to the sea.
The view at the top is marvelous. The trail itself is not so hard and would not put it as being hard but maybe for some might be a little harder because it can be step at times but generally it was nice.
Would definitely recommend it and after coming down getting an ice cream and then going swimming in the ocean."

"Superb view over the city of Santa Cruz and surrounding area. If your going by car, leave it on the parking lot and walk past the cell cervice tower onto the very edge of the cliff. Just be careful and watch your step!"

"There's so many choices in La Palma...this one unfortunately is a bit too busy and there's rubbish and that - I blame us tourists obviously! It's lame that we ruin3 things.
But it's a good city type view"

For Different Travelers
Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
If driving, parking near the cell tower makes the ascent much shorter and less strenuous for families. Focus on the panoramic views and the experience of reaching a high point rather than the difficulty of the trail. It's a good opportunity to teach children about appreciating natural landscapes and the importance of respecting the environment by not leaving any litter behind.
🚶♀️ Budget Travelers
Pack your own water and snacks to avoid purchasing them at inflated prices, if any vendors were even available. The Hike to the Summit
For those starting from the beachside parks, the trail is also accessible. It's described as a nice trail, though it can be step at times. The key takeaway from reviews is to wear appropriate footwear. Sturdy shoes with good grip are essential to navigate the terrain safely and comfortably.
Upon reaching the summit, the panoramic vista is truly the star. The lookout provides a stunning perspective over the city of Santa Cruz, the port, and the rolling mountains beyond. It's a popular spot, so while the hike itself might offer solitude, the viewpoint can be busy, especially during peak times.
Capturing the Perfect View
While the main lookout offers the most expansive views, don't hesitate to explore slightly along the cliff edge for different perspectives. A wide-angle lens is ideal for capturing the sweeping panoramas, but a standard zoom lens will also serve you well. For those interested in wildlife, keeping an eye out for Red-billed choughs or geckos sunbathing on the rocks can add unique shots to your portfolio.
Remember to prioritize safety when framing your shots. The cliff edge can be precarious, and it's crucial to be aware of your surroundings and watch your step at all times. The beauty of the view is best enjoyed when you feel secure and can fully appreciate the stunning scenery.
