There are no superlatives! The performance of Mendelssohn’s Elijah in the CT City Hall yesterday by the Cape Town Festival Orchestra and the phenomenal Philharmonia Choir, under the masterful direction of Maestro Richard Cock, was the musical equivalent of the Springboks’ display in Durban the day before. Oh My Word it was brilliant!!! Special mention to my friend Conroy Scott, without a doubt th...

The Cuenca Town Hall is a notable 18th-century Baroque building, celebrated for its iconic triple archways that serve as a city thoroughfare. Visitors appreciate its architectural beauty and the unique spectacle of traffic flowing through its arches, often enjoyed from nearby cafes. The civil wedding hall is also highlighted as particularly spectacular.

"Built in the 18th century in Baroque style, the building is characterized by its entrance, which consists of three archways. These arches serve as a passageway connecting Plaza Mayor to other parts of the city."

Seokjin Ham

".

An interesting building with archways right across the road.

This is at the other end of the Plaza Mayor from the Cathedral, and is the administrative centre of the town, aka Ayuntamiento or Town Hall.

Plonked down right across the road, it forms a funnel, or rather a bottleneck, for the traffic flow. So much so that there's a traffic light right in the middle of the Plaza, to ensure a one-way flow only through its arches.

Nice to sit at one of the nearby bars and watch the cars and bigger vehicles buzzing in and out!
