What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find La Hoya Archaeological Site to be a well-maintained and informative destination, particularly appreciating the free entry and the quality of the museum exhibits and historical videos. Some note that the ruins themselves are not as grand as other sites, and the terrain can be muddy, requiring appropriate footwear. The off-season hours can also be a point of confusion for some.
"I'm sure it's great but on arrival they've moved to off season opening times which is difficult to Google maps.
Looked interesting but won't have time to return on this trip."
Colin Browne
"We were the only visitors there on a Wednesday morning. Entry to the museum and grounds as well as an audio guide in English were all free. There are some interesting artifacts inside the museum as well as a recreated home and an aerial view. Walking around the actual city was interesting but it is overgrown with wildflowers and our shoes got wet and muddy. You can’t enter the actual streets of the ancient city but that’s understandable. It was pretty interesting to see the ancient city with its medieval successor on the hill in the distance and the modern architecture of the vineyard on the other side."
Caitlin Freeman
"It's a great place if you love history, you can watch a video that explains the site & history, it's free to enter."
